Brooklyn Minds Services

As of January 2020, we now accept all policyholders of Cigna insurance. Many of our clinicians will consider other insurance plans as well, though some may be out-of-network.

Please email billing@brooklynminds.com or call (646) 859-1536 to speak with an intake specialist who will provide guidance for each specific situation and field any questions regarding billing issues.

We do expect payment in full at the time of service. We will submit claims for all in-network services directly to your healthcare provider. Out-of-network claims can be submitted as a courtesy to your healthcare provider, but we cannot guarantee coverage. Alternatively, we can provide clients with the documentation required so you can submit your own claim to your out-of-network provider.

Brooklyn Minds accepts check, cash, all major credit cards, Health Savings Account “flex account” cards, Bitcoin, Bitcoin Cash, Ethereum, Ethereum Classic, Litecoin, DAI, and Ripple.

Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS)

We accept most major insurance carriers for dTMS services, including Cigna.

If you are out-of-network, we are able to obtain Single Case Agreements (SCA) with most other insurers. This includes various Medicaid plans. Reduced-fee dTMS intakes are also available for those with a documented financial hardship. For individuals who do not qualify for insurance-based reimbursement for TMS, we do provide private pay TMS when clinically appropriate.

Many insurance providers now cover TMS for adults with treatment-resistant depression. Insurance carriers usually cover TMS after individuals have tried a course of therapy, as well as 3-4 antidepressants without sufficient relief. Check with your insurance company to confirm the requirements. If you have had TMS in the past and it was effective, many insurances will cover subsequent treatments.  For OCD, the FDA has cleared dTMS as a treatment, but insurance coverage varies. Qualified patients with major depression who are insured by Medicare can start treatment the same day as their consultation, if clinically appropriate.

Our intake specialists will investigate situations on a case-by-case basis. To learn more about your options, please contact billing@brooklynminds.com.

Please notify us at least 48 hours in advance if you cannot make your appointment. If you no-show or cancel within the 48 hour-hour window, you will be billed for the full-service fee. We understand that emergencies do happen, however, and this fee can be waived at the clinician’s discretion for these infrequent circumstances. Please note: insurance companies do not reimburse missed appointments. If you arrive late to your appointment, we cannot guarantee we will have extra time beyond the designated appointment slot and you will be billed for the full scheduled time.

If a comprehensive report is requested for a school district, for a legal matter, or for another independent evaluative purpose, we ask that payment be made in full or that funds be held in escrow prior to releasing these reports. We take pride in writing detailed reports that accurately reflect our findings and recommendations. However, we understand that some are needed in an urgent fashion. Please let us know if that is the case and we will attempt to work with you around these deadlines. Please note: billing for these types of reports is calculated on an hourly fee or a flat-fee negotiated with the school district if the district is funding the evaluation.

It‘s been the best mental health care I have ever received. The amount of positive change I and those close to me have seen in the past year has been astounding, and I truly believe Brooklyn minds saved my life.”
